Sead Muftic, Ph.D.

Sead Muftic is working in the area of IT security for more than 40 years. He received his M.Sc.

degree (1974) and Ph.D. degree (1976) at The Ohio State University, both in the area of IT security. Sead Muftic has been full professor at The Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm, Sweden) for 25 years and also visiting professor at the George Washington University (Washington, DC, USA) for several years. Dr. Muftic is registered as an International Expert for security of blockchain technologies and virtual currencies by the European Commission (Brussels, Belgium) and as the visiting scientist by the CSIR Institute in South Africa. He has been collaborating with the EC for more than 25 years as an expert, consultant, or project manager. Dr. Muftic is the founder and CEO of two IT security companies: SETECS, Inc. and BIX System Corporation. In the last several years, dr. Muftic was actively engaged in the area of blockchain technologies and applications, especially their security aspects. He is the designer of the two global secure blockchain

systems: BIX Ledger® – secure distributed ledger (bixledger.com) and BIX Payments® – secure virtual currency payment system (bixwallet.com). He is also the Founder and Technical Adviser for several companies developing various secure applications based on the use of BIX Ledger™. Dr. Muftic was the member of BAFT (baft.org) and the Coordinator of the Project “Banking Partnership Agreement using distributed Ledger Technologies and Smart Contracts”. Dr. Muftic is the author of six U.S. patents, more than 50 research papers, expert reports, and three books. He lives in Washington, DC and Stockholm.
